Keyline Design Course with Darren Doherty & Dave Griffiths

Dalpura WorkshopsA fantastic opportunity to learn Keyline Design only 70 minutes drive from the Melbourne CBD. This intesive 3 day hands on workshop is happening in the Eastern Otways on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of May.

A practical introduction to the modern applications of Keyline Design for drought proofing you landscape. This course also covers farm planning, agroforestry and Holistic Management. The multi award winning Yeomans Keyline Plow will also be demonstrated.

A must for all graziers, farmers, Earthmovers, Urban and Rural Land-users.  Dont’ miss out!

The workshop is being held on Dalpura a 140 acre property that has been under development as a Broadacre Permaculture Forestry & Silvapastoral operation since it was designed by Darren Doherty & Ben Boxshall in 1996. The site has over 120 species of managed Forestry, Tree Crop & Fodder species over a total of over 50,000 trees planted, all on a Keyline Design layout with many integrated into the pastoral systems of the property.

A two week, residential course, in the classic Permaculture Design Certificate style, incorporating intensive theory and practice in all aspects of Permaculture Design. Taught by the internationally renowned Darren Doherty and Milkwood’s own Nick Ritar. This will be Darren’s first PDC back in Australia after a highly acclaimed world tour, and will be jam-packed with lots of new information and examples to draw from. This course is being held at Milkwood Farm a working sheep stud, lavender and olive farm and permaculture demonstration site just off the ridge line of the great dividing range.

Internship Program

The Permaculture Research Institute offers internships at Diversity Farm, The Channon, New South Wales, Australia.

These include mentorship by accredited permaculture teachers with a great depth of experience in design consultancy and international project establishment. A great diversity of disciplines options are available with on ground skills for from three months to two years possible including a permaculture diploma. Food and basic farm accommodation is included for $350 per week.

Volunteer Program

compostAt Diversity Farm we offer a working experience for anyone who has a permaculture design certificate and is prepared to camp and contribute $50 a week towards food.

We have a basic farm camp ground with compost toilet and solar shower. The work will involve the general running of the farm on a day to day basis as a permaculture demonstration site and education centre with our farm staff. Bookings are essential. No drugs or alcohol are allowed on the property.

A Permaculture Practical Certificate course being held at Bill and Lisa Mollison’s property, Sister Creek, Tasmania is a completely hands-on course in permaculture project establishment.

Specifically designed to give a reference and realistic expectation of the requirements to establish a project. Every day a different discipline is tackled taking into account the seasonal variation of the farming year. The days are long, the work is hard for some, but it is always interesting and informative.

Starting 9 April 2007 and running for 13 Days, you’ll learn by working with us on real jobs. You will sleep well.

We normally cover home gardens, nursery, propagation, seed saving, irrigation, food forests, tool maintenance, farm forestry, weed control, small and large animal systems, composting, bamboo, worm farms, fencing, aquaculture, surveying, micro and macro earth works when possible, and straw bale building.

Tom Bell, in association with PAT and a forming intentional community group known as Abeo, is delighted to announce the “Tassie PDC Course of 2007“to be presented on Jan. 22nd - Feb 4th.
