The Ecologist magazine was invaluable as a resource into Monsanto's chequered history and dirty tricks policy. Their lack of ethics and complete disregard to any study showing health risks posed by their Frankenstein technology, continues to dismay and anger me. That Australia's food market is 40% GMO is seriously frightening. But what is even more frightening is that the average man/woman on the streets of urban Australia does not even know what GMO is or the serious long-long-term effects to our DNA, our biodiversity and to our ability to farm natural foods and have sovereignty over what foods we eat and what foods we plant. This frankenstein technology is not for feeding the poor of the socalled third world countries, it is for controlling their ability to farm, by patenting their seeds, thereby to monopolise the worlds' food supply? And of course, let's not forget that their frankenstein seed requires the use of their Herbicide and their Fertiliser to grow. It is all about profit. What I want to know is why US, Australia and UK Governments seem support this bio-technology. Why the directors and board members of Monsanto end up with organisations which should serve the interest of consumers, e.g. Food and Drug Admin in US, and vice versa - a case of revolving doors - its all very cosy. While the young sleep in a virtual reality distracted world, and the old in an ignorance of the changing world, Frankensteinian technologies are holding the farmers of the world to ransom, laughing all the way to the bank. And you can bet their canteens serve non-GMO foods and their opulent home dining rooms, nothing but organic.
