Compost Heated Hot Water in Canberra

Leigh Blackall has set up a compost water heating system after being inspired by a series of Youtube videos including one featuring Zaytuna’s compost heated shower.

The system was also featured on radio station 2CC and in the Canberra Times last Sunday (inset).

Leigh said while it’s great to get some publicity he doesn’t think the system is ready to go to market just yet and has some concerns about the HDPE pipe releasing chemicals into the water. However he is interested in collaborating with likeminded people to build a working model that is easily maintained and duplicated, such as the bin system.
