It is sad to see that meaningful environmental improvement has been hijacked by the academics who insist on hanging their hat, their shirt, their pants and their underwear on efforts to prove global warming. The academics moan about the money spent by industries interested in finding out the truth by saying that it's a great "buy-out" or "conspiracy". Yet they doen't equally emphasize the fact that they themselves are well-paid by donations from individuals and companies who have an interest in proving global warming is real. The bottom-line is we need to be focusing our efforts on eliminating obvious pollution and into developing alternative fuels......not to support the global warming psuedo science, but because it makes better sense for the future. The problem is, you can't sell normal environmental science. Focusing on this won't get you grants, and donations, endowments, etc. Don't let the academics fool you. They are just as much on "the take" as the people they complain about.

Hi Leigh. At present we have several people, a couple of them quite high profile, at Copenhagen getting Permaculture concepts across to people at the highest levels, and getting Permaculture wording into documents that get read by the same.

You may not recognise, or want to see it, but there are changes afoot. The world is in a mess, and there is a very real risk we'll start to see broadscale social collapse going like a domino effect around the world. If Permaculturists don't get involved in the positive change that needs to occur to avoid this, we'll see decisions getting made that are not of our liking. We need to influence these decisions, and try to ensure a saner world is built.

People won't get involved if they don't understand the issues.

Notwithstanding this, as I type, the topic of posts from the top of this site are thus:

Top: Greening the Desert Part II video - a month's worth of work for me in Jordan, documenting the miracles of permaculture and PRI's efforts to spread these systems through Jordan.

2: An urban gardener feeds a community. 'Nuff said.

3: The Nomad way in Bali - about a guy trying to transform the whole island into organic systems.

4: How to repair the world. 'Nuff said.

5: The Real Climate Scandal. Talking about the money behind climate denial. It's the fifth one down, but the only one you chose to comment on.... Why not read and comment on the ones you enjoy.

6: The case of syngenta - exposing things that ought to be exposed.

I see ten comments from you in the system. Eight of them are on posts about climate change (where you have a clear bias towards the denial side). It would seem you're actually much more interested in climate change than your comment above suggests.

Again, read and comment on posts that you enjoy.

But, if you really must continue to read posts on climate change, here's a post I think you really should read. If you don't feel the climate change issue is something people should be aware of, perhaps you can explain why, pushing aside all other econimic/political/social obfuscations, that is given the proven heat trapping properties of CO2.

In addition, I invite you to contribute (everyone is invited to contribute - as you can see from the 'contributing author' link at top of the site) - please send the kind of articles you would like to see in the world.... If you don't contribute, there really is no justification for you to complain. Thank you.

The skeptical perspectives I follow are neither uneducated males, or (what was it he said about women?). I appreciate your effort to bring all the remarks together, and that like many you are passionate about this issue.. but I keep thinking the permaculture research institute is better off keeping a clean nose on this. I say this because clearly the issue is being manipulated on both sides, at a level permies don't walk nor want to (I hope). Better the institute remain focused on real sollutions like permaculture than get caught up in all this globalist nonesense. I really hope you do pull back and refocus, you're my fall back point when all this goes custard. Last thing I want to come back to is more pointless wonderings about the who says what in global scale PR spin, and then a clear bias on the matter at that. :(
