If the fruit trees that are planted on the banks of large swales get established, their roots act as a water retention layer ( more so in clay soils), so the roots and sediment can produce a semi-permanent ponding effect...so if you expand on this model you can make duck ponds or fish ponds..however in Asstraylias' hype-regulated litigated society, i don't think duck ponds and fish ponds are allowed in urban areas like Turramurra(?) Hopefully, as grey water re-use becomes more popular, these laws will be modified and real reform will occur.

Great work guys. My yard is fairly flat so I can't do that myself. I've had to be satisfied with building mounds for the garden and digging the paths out between them and diverting rainwater into the resulting channels. I'm looking forward to seeing more photo's as you food forest develops.

Congratulations on a wonderful project - even the weather conspired to make it easy for you and then to show you what a wonderful job you had done. Couldn't have asked for more. I wait with enthusiasm for more pictures as the site develops. Well done
