Because it is so different depending on where you live, your personal beliefs and socio-economic views the American economy is nearly impossible to comprehend. It has always been a struggle between the elite (high consumers) and the needs of the people. Many citizens are poor or for some other reason not able to compete effectively in the job market. Corporations and other institutions both large and small are inherently facist (ruling elite with high salaries and priviledges for the few) in order to compete in the market. Some treat the individual better than others. The only way to create any kind of balance is with strong labor unions and effective foreign trade policies. This is a nearly impossible because of the strong grip that the facist (wealthy rulers) elite (high consumers) have on government and the hearts and minds of citizens. But nature shows us the way. Through best use of resources, putting limits on population and growth, nature finds a way to maximize all resources and create abundance.
